NICARAGUA - Maracaturra Los Medios - Dark Roast
Maracaturra is one of our favorite cultivars, often producing a delicate cup with tropical flavors. We actually found the cup flavors to be less delicate than our typical Maracaturra's - heftier in terms of sweetness and body, with a milder acidic impression. The dry fragrance has a scent of raw sugars that, with a wet aroma that blooms to deep caramel tones, accented by cooked fruits and walnut. Unrefined sugars and balanced bitter-sweetness and the top notes that peak through in the cooling cup included creamy cherimoya, baked apple, and a tea-like aspect that mostly came through as a pleasantly tannic, bittering finish (like black tea). This Darker roast gives weighty chocolate roast flavors, still accented by just a hint of baked apple.
